We are in search of a petite, live-in person to help out with training and working with young horses and greener horses. The ideal candidate will be a petite, lightweight individual (as our horses are technically ponies) that wants to gain experience with foals and younger horses. You will get plenty of one on one time working with the trainer. Gypsy horses are very easy to work with and very forgiving as you learn. We start everything with a dressage base. Owner/trainer is a USDF Silver medalist on a self made horse. A dressage, hunter/jumper, or natural horsemanship base is preferred. We are a small Gypsy breeding farm that produces 2 foals a year. Work hours are very reasonable so you will have time for yourself. Very limited stalls ( Usually take 5 minutes) as the horses are mostly kept outside other than the stallion coming in during the day and the broodmares in at night around foaling. Other duties will include feeding, bathing, helping the owner with her driving ponies if needed, watching the farm if we travel, and some other farm projects. We are seeking a candidate that is hard working (we will not exploit that trait), can work independently, communicate well, and is willing to pitch in where needed. A rider small enough to start 12 hand ponies would be a big plus. Can possibly work around a part time person but prefer a full time person. Looking for a rider that is comfortable at the walk, trot, and canter and wants to grow as a trainer. Possibility to grow into more of a trainer position. If you are not registered with yard and groom, please leave a good phone number in the message to reach you. If you don't, I will send an email to the account that the message originated from. Please check your junk folder as I have been advised that my emails do sometimes end up there.

Job Benefits

We are a small private barn with no drama and very low stress. We are about an hour from the gulf beeches. I am willing to help our employee grow as a horseman. We only employ one working student at a time, so you will receive plenty of teaching time and lots of one on one time with the trainer. Regular lessons with USDF Silver Medalist. There is the opportunity to learn carriage driving, hoof trimming and rehab modalities. Indoor, outdoor and round pen. Our horse are easy to handle and are kept as horses. Currently only 18 horses on the property. Possibility to show. Great working hours for farm work, about 8.5 hours a day for full time. A day and a half off a week and some holidays off (other than covering feeding). While we do work hard, we will not take advantage of someone with a good work ethic that works hard. Can help taste test freeze dried candy. Personal horse will be considered after a probationary period.
