About Us: Join our dedicated team at Camp Kippewa, where we prioritize the care and well-being of our horses. We are looking for a motivated and responsible individual to help maintain our stable during the summer months.
Job Responsibilities:
~Feed and water horses according to established schedules ~Clean stalls and ensure a safe and healthy environment for the horses ~Groom and handle horses, including bathing, brushing, and tacking up ~Turn horses out to pasture and bring them in as needed ~Assist with any health checks or basic medical care under supervision ~Maintain cleanliness and organization of the barn and surrounding areas ~Support other stable operations as needed
Qualifications:
~Previous experience working with horses is preferred but not required ~Strong work ethic and reliability ~Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks ~Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions ~Team player with a positive attitude
Requirements
Horse Care Experience: Knowledge of daily horse care, including feeding, grooming, mucking stalls, and basic health checks.
Physical Fitness: Able to perform manual labor tasks such as lifting hay bales, cleaning stalls, and maintaining barn equipment.
Attention to Detail: Ensure the barn is kept clean, organized, and safe for both horses and campers.
Team Player: Work closely with riding instructors, other barn staff, and camp counselors to maintain smooth barn operations.
Comfort Around Horses: Must be comfortable handling horses of different temperaments and skill levels.
Strong Work Ethic: Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Safety-Minded: Understand and prioritize safety protocols for handling horses and working around the barn.
Availability: Commitment to the full summer season (mid-May to mid-August).
Fluent in English: Ability to understand instructions and communicate with the camp team in English.
Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
Valid International Travel Documents: Must hold a valid passport and meet visa requirements for the U.S.
Bonus: Previous Barn or Farm Experience (preferred but not required). Basic First Aid Knowledge (preferred but not required).
