Working student positions at Destination Farm in Dickerson, MD ! Lessons and training from Advanced level event rider, Usea ECP level IV certified instructor, and "r" eventing judge Natalie Hollis, and Intermediate level event rider and Usea ECP level certified instructor, Suzannah Cornue. Housing with paid utilities, lessons at least 4x per week ( generally 5-6x) , stall board for 1 horse, shipping to events, and coaching at events in exchange for barn work, grooming at home and shows, and exercise riding. Own horse not required as we have many schoolmasters and sales horses you can ride. Facilities include 30 stalls, large indoor/ outdoor arena’s, grass show jumping field, xc course, areas to gallop/ condition, and extensive trail system. We are also located 5 miles from two xc courses. We event almost every weekend mid March – mid November as well as go to twilight eventing, and jumper / dressage shows year round. We also host clinics regularly and host jumper shows . Working students help us with all aspects of the farm- there is no better way to improve your skills as a horseman and rider. Working students learn all aspects of running a successful barn- riding, competing, stable management,sales, and grooming- as well as getting to observe top farriers and vets in the area. Working students applicants are expected to be competent riders and have some experience caring for horses, although there is no minimum competition level requirement. Working students need to have their own health insurance for the duration of their stay, must be hard working, committed, willing to learn,and have references. Generally, we ask for a commitment of at least a 6 month stay, although short term is possible. working students have went on to be vet techs, farriers, instructors , trainers, grooms, and barn managers. Destination Farm is a 30 stall facility on 40 acres with a 200 by 70 indoor, 200 by 125 outdoor, XC course, and access to great trails and hacking- including hills to condition on. We offer lessons, boarding, sales, working students, training, coaching, and clinics. Trainers/managers are Natalie Hollis and Suz Cornue. Natalie is a level IV ICP certified instructor, Advanced level rider, and "r" event judge. She also has over 20 years experience managing event barns and has an Animal Science degree. Suz is a level I-T certified instructor and an Intermediate event rider. She also has 13 years management experience and an Equine Science and Management degree. We offer quality care and individualized training to our clients as well as an active eventing schedule.
