Full time, temporary INTERNSHIP for busy hunter/jumper training and breeding facility. Job is 6 days a week, with 1 week day off. Breeding season hours are dictated solely by the mares. Candidate must clearly understand that. It is an incredible opportunity to for hands on learning.

Now accepting applications for January 2024.

Duties include:

  1. Foal watch - watching live feed cameras while mares are in labor.
  2. Assisting with births, neonatal care,
  3. Stallion Collection,
  4. Insemination,
  5. Mare care,
  6. Learning about tease protocols
  7. Assisting with ultrasounds for follicle monitoring, ovulation checks, preg checks
  8. Learning how to lavage uterus
  9. Foal Handling and much more.

Most of what happens during breeding season occurs after dusk and before dawn. Therefore, candidate must be confident in her ability to stay awake through the wee hours.

Daily barn duties: Feeding, water, turnout, occasional light stall mucking, general cleaning. Grooming and tacking, setting jumps. Possible opportunity to ride SOLELY depending on ability.

Stipend is $400/mo.
Please do not ask for more. The hands on experience you will gain, you can not begin to buy for that price. Once the paid internship is filled, I do sometimes have housing for an additional unpaid intern.

Possible unpaid part-time internship options for local students.

This can usually be used as a for credit internship with your college.

Requirements

Applicants must be comfortable working around and handling strong young warmbloods. Applicants must be be able to lift at least 50lbs comfortably and be fit enough for daily walking in hot weather. Must be height - weight appropriate as this is a physically demanding job.
