We're expanding our team! 1-2 part or full time paid or working student positions available. Duties include: feeding, grooming, giving hay/water, event assistance, and other miscellaneous farm chores (mowing/dragging pastures, weed-eating, spreading compost, sweeping barn rooms, general farm tidying, etc.). Must be able to lift 50lbs (mainly bags of feed, tipping water buckets, etc.). 6-8 hour days. Must be independent, be a good problem-solver, and have great attention to detail. Creative thinkers a bonus! The property is still growing and developing, so while the majority of the work is with the horses (and overly friendly barn cats), we could use additional help with basic construction of fencing, shelters, and barns. Extensive experience not required but appreciated; we're happy to educate on the job. Horses range in age from 3 to 29 years old and include sassy mares, level-headed stallions, and a few derpy geldings. We are ramping up demos, clinics, and farm tours, so workers will be expected to help us prepare for those, whether by grooming, tidying up, taking tickets, etc. For paid staff, pay starts at $17.50/hr with riding lessons available at 50% regular rate. For working students, a lesson is provided for each day of work. Lodging is in progress. As we grow, this position can turn into an opportunity to become a barn manager (and for working students, assistant trainer). Primarily looking for someone who can cover Tuesday-Thursday with one or two other days as well. While the address is Black Mountain, the location is closer to Bat Cave (sorry, no Batman sightings... yet). Strict no-smoking and no drug policy.
