Little Longears Miniature Donkey Rescue has relocated to its brand new, 100 acre facility in New Oxford, PA. We are growing quickly and are looking to fill a few positions to help care for more than 140 donkeys, mules, and a few ponies.

**Equine Assistant ** Equine Assistants report to, and work with the Director of Rescue Operations providing the daily care for the donkeys, ponies, and mules. Duties will include feeding and medicating as directed, tending to any veterinary treatments the donkeys may need, holding for the farrier, dentist and vet, grooming, light training, hoof care (including wrapping for abscesses, and treating other hoof ailments), monitoring donkeys for any unusual behavior, health issues, etc, and reporting any concerns to the Director.

Other duties will include working with, and helping oversee and direct the grooms and caretakers with normal general barn chores involved with maintaining a clean environment: cleaning stalls, barns, and paddocks, giving hay, and water, and grooming.

Experienced grooms/caretakers will have duties that include general barn work, feeding, cleaning stalls, barns and paddocks, helping with vet, farrier and dentist, turn out, grooming and handling of donkeys

We don't expect anyone to necessarily have much, or any donkey experience, but it is necessary that applicant have experience working with green or young horses. Many of these donkeys and mules can be challenging and this job is not for someone without significant experience. We will train and teach applicant the specifics of working with these donkeys and mules, but a thoughtful, patient, and confident person is a must.

If you are looking for a break from the intensity of a show barn, this might be a great change of pace for you. We are serious about taking exceptional care of all the residents at our rescue.
