Summary: Small 18 stall lesson/ show barn seeking farm manager. The barn manager oversees the proper care of horses, supervises employees, and maintains buildings and grounds. This position works under the direct instruction and supervision of the lead trainer. Barn manager must be experienced with aspects of horsemanship. They are responsible for overseeing the general maintenance and upkeep of the horses and barn property by performing the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Muck out the stalls.
  2. Prepare grain, supplement, feed and water for the horses.
  3. Turn out/brings in horses to and from paddocks.
  4. Collaborate daily with the Lead Trainer to ensure all barn needs are being met.
  5. Mow / weedeat / spray for weeds.
  6. Drag/ pick paddocks.
  7. Must be able to trailer (dump trailer and horse trailer); complete manure runs and hay pickup.
  8. Tractor skills (bush hog, bucket, loading and unloading, etc.)
  9. Order and pick up supplies, equipment, and feed.
  10. Report and assist with maintenance that needs to be done to physical structures.
  11. Maintain vehicle maintenance, fuel and records.
  12. Handle the documentation of routine veterinary and farrier visits.
  13. Hold for veterinary treatments and farrier if necessary.
  14. Maintain records, submit bills for payment.
  15. Input data, records and schedules
  16. The position supports and answers directly to the Lead Trainer.

Requirements

Possible fit for show groom looking for a quieter environment, or an individual interested in gaining experience in equine farm management. This is a stay at home position. Willing to train for individuals who have general horse knowledge.

This job involves daily hands-on horse care, including stalls and barn maintenance, with additional monthly responsibilities of scheduling and record keeping. This job is under the supervision of the Lead Trainer.
