Equine Work Experience

I have been working as a young stock handler for the past 4 months. In this job I have handled horses of many ages including; broodmares, foals and yearlings. I have participated in yearling prep for the Magic Millions sale. I have helped both foals and yearlings to become accustomed to being handled and educate them in what is required for their life beyond the stud. I work quickly and calmly with my fellow handlers to make sure all horses are looked after with utmost care. My duties are; handling mares, yearlings and foals, rugging/unrugging, catching from the paddock, tacking and untacking, cleaning/maintaining tack, grooming, weening, driving trailers, washing, making feeds/feeding, exercising and cleaning stalls.

I also have my own private horse so other equine skills I posses include; riding, loading/unloading and lunging.

Specialities

I currently work with yearlings, broodmares and foals, so I have experience with horses of all ages. I also have my own horse so I practice many different riding disciplines.

I am a responsible, reliable, and hard worker. I work well under pressure, can efficiently multitask, prioritise, and delegate. I work quickly while maintaining high-quality in my tasks. I am a capable solo worker but also work well in teams. I am a bright, friendly person and a quick learner.

Type of Ride Work

I have experience riding different horses and styles. I learnt to ride on a farm where you were given a different horse each time in order to advance your skills, so I have experience with both problem and young horses.

I now have my own horse and have competed in many different disciplines. I am an all-round rider and I enjoy learning and trying new things. I practice dressage, jumping, western games (bending and barrel racing), hacking and flatwork. I also have experience in trail riding.

Competition Details

I have competed with my own horse in hacking, dressage, jumping, western pleasure and sporting. I competed from the ages of 14 - 18 and within my age group won a total of 2 3rd place, 6 2nd place and 10 1st place ribbons over many different disciplines. I was awarded the sportsmanship and overall champion at my local pony club. I also competed in open age dressage levels preparatory - novice and won 2 6th place, 1 4th place, 1 3rd place, 3 2nd place and 1 1st place ribbons.
