Duties of Current Occupation
Show Groom: grooming, tacking, exercising, feeding, and watering horses Trail Guide: caught and tacked up to 14 horses, and led large groups of inexperienced rider Barn Hand: cleaning stalls, feeding, turning horses in and out, and teaching lessons
Specialities
My experience with both foals and stallions has been quite limited. At one of my previous jobs, I cared for a miniature foal, which involved feeding and turning it in and out. As for stallions, I’ve only handled one, and I had the opportunity to tack and ride it a couple of times.
Type of Ride Work
I have been able to ride various horses, each offering unique experiences. When I was younger, I owned a pony that I trained myself, developing its abilities before successfully selling it. As my riding progressed, I competed with a top-level eventing horse in jumper shows. I’ve also ridden former Grand Prix jumper horses in competitions. Beyond competing, I’ve ridden everything from green horses needing foundational work and school horses needing exercise.
Competition Details
The majority of my competitive experience has been in the A-circuit, where I participated in hunter, jumper, and equitation classes, competing at heights up to 1.10s. In addition to competing, I’ve gained experience working as a show groom over multiple years. This role involved grooming, tacking, and preparing horses to ensure they looked their best. As well as feeding, watering, exercising, and monitoring their overall well-being.
