Qualifications
I don't have any formal education around equine studies besides my own personal first hand experience. However, I am a very fast learner, hard worker, and am completely dedicated towards my passion for riding and horse care.
Duties of Current Occupation
I worked in customer service the last few years but wish to pursue my experience in the equestrian field.
Equine Work Experience
I trained in show jumping when I was younger ( was jumping 3ft), so I am comfortable with english riding. Also, I have ridden western in Mexico, Costa Rica, Arizona, and Africa. I have spent many hours on different ranches becoming comfortable in the saddle, around horses and other livestock. I am eager to pursue a career in the equestrian field given my love for horses and passion for the study of animal behaviour or. I have loved and been around horses since I was a small child, and I am enamoured with the equestrian culture of Ireland. In my 5 visits to Hacienda Guachipelin ( a Costa Rican horse ranch), I spent countless hours riding into the mountains where became comfortable with rounding up horses and cattle (up to 400 at a time with others), as well as basic trail riding. My dad is a wildlife biologist and taught me everything I know about animals including how to read different animal behaviours and needs. I am excited to learn more and pursue my dream of working with horses.
Specialities
During my early jumping lessons I nailed down the basics in order to have a firm and comfortable seat. I can ride both western and english. I am comfortable on the trail as well as in the ring for lessons or rodeo. I have a passion for learning different animal behaviours, so I can read the cues of horses fairly well and hope to get even better. I am comfortable in and around stables for mucking out stalls and grooming.
Type of Ride Work
On the many ranches I have rode on, my horses often changed from well trained to brand new. In terms of the type of riding I have done and can do both english and western. Jumping, trail riding, obstacle courses, cross country, and barrel racing. I have watched many sessions of riders breaking a horse (a starting horse) on different occasions but at the time was too young to do it myself. During my lessons I was riding a well trained dutch warmblood but do not discriminate with horse breeds.
Competition Details
I did not compete in jumping, I simply trained at the stable where I gained all my experience. Also, my experience in rodeo events was all done at Tanque Verde Ranch (Arizona) where they have fun in-house competitions amongst the riders which I always won. Specifically barrel racing.
