Former yard staff member at a riding school, currently working as a groom at a private and a livery yard

• Maintaining stables (mucking/skipping out, bedding down) • Turning out and bringing in from the field, caring for horses living out in the field • Preparing feeds, adding medicines and supplements when/if needed • Providing food and water for horses (filling up haynets, making sure water buckets are clean) • Ensuring there’s enough grazing and haylage in the field • Keeping allocated areas tidy (tack room, feed room and storage areas) • Keeping the yard safe and tidy in line with health and safety regulations • Grooming and rugging horses • Monitoring the condition of horses and reporting any problems • Identifying and treating minor injuries/wounds, changing dressing and poultice etc • Caring for horse tack (cleaning and conditioning, etc) • Tacking up/untacking horses, getting them ready for lessons and hacks

Worked with various breeds of different ages from yearlings to retired horses, race horses, ex race horses, show jumpers etc
