Duties of Current Occupation
The main duties in my occupation consist of hooking individuals onto and taking them off ziplines, checking out and operating service vehicles and hummers (oil, power steering, coolant), sanitizing gear and bathrooms, robot operations.
Equine Work Experience
I grew up riding horses and worked Sundays to feed, muck, water, and turn horses out. We also led GroupOn lessons at our stables so I would groom, tack, prepare and lead GroupOn lessons.
I volunteered for a summer at B.O.K Ranch in Woodside, where we led developmentally disabled individuals around on horses. Our duties consisted of grooming, tacking (often with special tack; both English and Western), and leading around a horse on a lead-rope or being a "side-walker" to secure an individual. Occasionally we would turn out or hack a pony before a lesson to get them behaving a little bit better.
Specialities
During the summer of 2018 I shadowed and equine veterinarian and assisted with a colic emergency, operating an ultrasound for pregnancy checks, prepping mares for AI, nerve blocks to asses lameness, and dental work.
I am currently enrolled in the foaling enterprise at California Polytechnic State University and I have experience drawing up and administering vaccines, deworming and otherwise caring for my mare, as well as handling and training all of the foals that have been born so far.
Type of Ride Work
I primarily rode English, specifically jumper. I also had a friend who allowed me to trail ride on her horse so I have experience trail riding as well. I have a decently strong leg when I ride so I have always preferred the less forward horses because I enjoy the challenge of getting them forward off my leg. I rode a slightly green and spooky pony called Fawn for a time, and my favorite project was a horse from a dressage barn who had a bucking problem.
Competition Details
I have never been in a formal competition, however our stables would host our own "shows" amongst ourselves.
