Equine Work Experience
Horses of all ages...at age 11, I was given my first green horse , an untouched yearling, now 15 he rides and has started learning to drive...he has never been to a trainer. We learned together and from natural horsemanship clinics I was able to audit and participate in. I volunteered at Live and Let Live Farm in high school and would help socialize/halter train their premarin (pmu) foals. I also volunteered at High Goal Stables in exchange for board I helped retrain and re-socialize ottbs. I then spent 5 yrs worked at Ladd Farm as a working student, learning natural horsemanship from the clinics they host there and taking care of the farm, its 9 permanent residents and any clinic horses who come to visit, all year round. I am currently working at Turning Point Show Stables a boarding/training facility that houses close to 30 horses or all sizes and abilities from school ponies to $100,000 Hunter/Jumpers.
Specialities
retraining, rehab, rehabilitating, starting, natural horsemanship, barefoot trimming, trailer loading, liberty work, working student, cow work,
Type of Ride Work
I rode at Carriage Hill Farm under the guidance of Ulla Rasmusen for 2 summers in high school learning dressage. Then at Ladd Farm, I mostly did trail riding and working western but have dabbled with western dressage. I haven't shown in years, taking the time off to improve my horsemanship and relationship with my horse. I have worked cows before but only in a clinic atmosphere. Since starting work at Turning Point Stable I am reacquainting myself with Hunter/Jumpers.
Competition Details
I participated in 4H, made it to states and opted for the barn manager role as my horse was still young and it was my first time participating. I have gone to the occasional barn show for fun and for a bit of competition experience.
