Duties of Current Occupation
Overseeing care of 14 horse therapeutic riding center. Administrating medication, feeding, turnout, training using natural horsemanship as needed. Manage a 20 person feed team. Make vet and farrier appointments. Be on call for emergencies.
Equine Work Experience
1 year working at centered riding facility. Part-time feeding/grooming and turnout. Daily tack cleaning and stall/pasture maintenance. Worked in exchange for riding lessons. Acquired majority of riding knowledge during employment.
4 years barn manager at therapeutic riding facility. Responsible for horse care of senior herd. Administration of IM and oral medication. Foot wrapping, wound care. Recognizing and managing colic and founder episodes, adjusting turnout and medication to mediate horse health. Pasture maintenance, dragging/spreading/picking manure. Herd dynamics management, introduction of new horses. Restarting horses and training for the program. Maintenance training and exercise of current herd. Tack fitting.
