Equine Work Experience

My most recent work experience has been from July 2022 - Present as an Assistant Instructor and Assistant Barn Manager at an Eventing Barn. This has been my first full-time job since graduating in May of 2022 from St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, NC. I graduated with two Bachelor's Degrees - the first in Equine Business Management and the second in Therapeutic Horsemanship. While at school, I was an active participant in the work-study program at the barn and was briefly promoted to an Assistant Barn Manager during a period of need. I also taught Therapeutic Riding lessons through the PATH certified program at St. Andrews. During the summer of 2021, I worked at YMCA Camp Seafarer with a team of SAU students and 22 of the SAU horses. We taught 150+ lessons over the summer and worked closely with the camp directors to coordinate activities. In the summer of 2020, I remained at SAU to care for the 80+ horses on property.

Specialities

Instructor (Hunter/Jumper or Basic Eventing, Clients range from 5-60 years old, Complete beginners to Intermediate/Lower Advanced), Routine Care (From as few as 15 horses up to 80+, Have worked alone and have managed a team of up to 8 student workers) Therapeutic Riding (Instruct lessons to clients with a variety of disabilities while managing a team of volunteers.), General Assistant (Grooming/Tacking/Lunging, Assisting service providers, Some riding of horses in Training)

Type of Ride Work

Triton Stables IEA Team - W/T/C rider (2017-2018 season),St. Andrews University IHSA Team - W/T/C rider (2018-2021) Limit Flat (2021-2022).I have done some work with many green/"problem" horses, all under the supervision of a trainer. I was able to see progression with a lease horse starting as a very green horse who refused jumps to a confident 2' jumper. While at SAU, I had the opportunity to work with one of the horses and help to bring him back into the lesson program after several years off
