Qualifications
I have my certification in equine massage therapy
Technically I have completed up to BHS stage 2 during college, but because of COVID, we could not get tested by BHS and therefore all had to change our majors slightly.
I am looking into getting an instructor certification, and it would be great if I could find a position to help me along on that route.
BHS Exams
BHS Stage 1 BHS Stage 2
Equine Work Experience
I graduated from Delaware Valley University in 2022 with my degree in Equine Management: Media and Communication, and I completed all the courses for the Equine Management: Instruction and Training degree as well.
I have been an assistant barn manager at a busy lesson farm and am looking to carry the skills I learned there into something a bit more upscale. My internship in college was also as a farm manager.
I have worked in equine rehab, and currently work as an equine vet tech.
Specialities
I have foal, broodmare, stallion experience. Although that is not my main specialty.
I would really like to work at a nice lesson barn where I can teach, ride, school some horses, and have the opportunity to show as well. I do have my own horse, but am not looking to move him.
I am quick at mucking and pay close attention to detail. I really want to love my job, and try to make the best out of each day!
Type of Ride Work
I am not looking for a riding job specifically, but I have experience jumping up to 2'6 and up to second level dressage. It is a big goal of mine to go for my Bronze medal in dressage someday.
I have worked with green Thoroughbreds off the track but have never completely restarted one on my own, with the exception of my horse, but he had never put a foot out of line and definitely different than every other horse I've ridden.
Competition Details
I have only competed small, local shows. But I enjoy going to larger ones (such as the MD 5*) and have always dreamt of working at an event such as that one.
I have been a competition groom for my college's home shows, where we had to braid, tack, and warm up the horses before the catch rides were pulled.
