Qualifications
I will be finishing my bachelors degree in Equine studies concentrating in both majors of equine management and teaching and training next spring.
Duties of Current Occupation
Learning to manage a barn, teach lessons beginner - intermediate lessons, and train horses.
Equine Work Experience
I have worked at a few lesson and boarding barns and I run the equine club at school. Although I wouldn't say I have much experience in a professional environment, but I'm willing to put in what it takes to learn.
Specialities
I have experience being a working student through high school where I worked with all types of horses including broodmares, foals, and stallions. Before heading off to school I got the expereince to start teaching beginner lessons and take a few kids to a schooling show. Since being in college I havent had the time to ride as much as I use to but I continued working at lots of different farms, cleaning stalls, and general barn chores. In school I am currently teaching lessons.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden a variety of horses from young and green horses. I have the most experience on the flat as I grew up riding at a dressage barn, but a lot of my techniques have left since moving to a hunter jumper barn and then to college where we are taught to ride very forward. Although I am working on fixing those bad habits I have learned. I do have experience jumping as well mainly in the hunter jumpers. I have not had the experience starting a horse from the ground up, but I will be learning.
Competition Details
I have not competed much myself, although I have been a groom/helping hand at many schooling shows. At school since I am the equine club president I often help out where I can when it comes to home shows as well.
