Equine Work Experience
I have been working with horses since 2000. I grew up on a farm and around 2005 we had horses. I was the main caregiver. I have experience training horses, working with vets to give medical care, and teaching others basic equine knowledge. I have taught small classes on how to tack and groom a horse. I also have experience in judging conformation. I have also taught several horses new skills including, teaching jumping, transitioning a cart race horse to basic English riding, and teaching a polo horse to be ridden in western style. I have also owned and worked with a visually disabled horse who went on to work in a therapeutic program before being retired. For many years I would go to events with a horse to provide pony rides focusing on the safety of the horse and the children.
Specialities
Cleaning fields and stalls Grooming Cleaning tack Teaching groups basic equine knowledge Handling difficult horses
Type of Ride Work
I started on experienced horses as a child and ended up on slightly green horses or horses that I had to transfer to a different discipline. One was a pony who had barely any training. She was only taught to walk and trot for children to ride. I taught here cantering, jumping, and dressage so that she was able to perform in shows and compete. Another was a retired Standardbred cart racer. She had never been ridden. Basically, I started from scratch with her. I also trained a half blind horse.
Competition Details
I have competed in basic English and western competitions which included but was not limited to conformation, dressage, jumping, and barrel racing.
