McDermott Farms Pty Ltd is currently seeking a horse trainer/breaker. Must have at least 3 years experience breaking horses. Able to ride and educate horses for their racing career with particular emphasis on developing the foundation education for young thoroughbreds. The position is full time employment - 38 hrs a week. In addition the following will be required: Understand and carry out excellent horse welfare knowledge Able to educate young horses on the ground and barrier education Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred industry Proven ability to train and educate young and older horses Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent use of technology to produce reports and videos Ability to work as a team and independently Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment. Sound knowledge of health of safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses. Applications close 7 November 2024.
