• Act as a leader and role model in complying with all policies and procedures. • Take responsibility for own health & safety, and the health & safety of others who may be affected by your conduct in the workplace. • Monitoring the health of all stallions. • Monitor and modify feed in consultation with management to meet the nutritional requirements of individual stallions. • Liaison with veterinarian and management regarding any injuries and illnesses with stallions • Administration of medication as advised by the veterinarian • Exercise stallions as required leading to the breeding season to ensure stallions have an adequate level of fitness prior to commencement of serving. • Always maintain a clean and tidy stallion and serving barn area. • Ensure stallion parade equipment is kept in a clean state at all times. • Present stallions in a clean and polished manner for parades when required. • Ensuring the stallions are ready for the covering barn when required. • Ensure mares are correctly identified and prepared for service. • Maintenance of all paperwork relating to stallions and services as required. • Work in a rotating roster including weekends • Order supplies as required • Assist in other areas of the farm as required.
Requirements
• Ability to accept, manage and implement change to your work group as directed by Stud Manager • Understanding of implementing systems and procedures in an operational environment. • Lateral thinking, decision making, and problem solving. • Good organisational, scheduling, efficient rostering and planning. • Proven experience in management. • Experience in the Horse Industry • Strong safety attitude • Strong customer service and relationship orientation • Effective manager and leader of people • Effective communication and self-awareness • Willingness to work additional hours, travel and be away from home, if required
