Haras de Saint Eloy, a professional thoroughbred stud farm in the beautiful Normandy region near Bayeux, is looking for a motivated and experienced breeding assistant to join our team for the upcoming season.
This is a seasonal position (initially 3 months) with the possibility of extension, offering private accommodation, shared bathroom, and meals included.
We are seeking someone with previous experience in the thoroughbred industry, particularly in handling foals and yearlings. You’ll be part of a small, dedicated team but must also be confident working independently and taking initiative when needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Daily turnout of horses to fields/paddocks
- Mucking out and general yard maintenance
- Assisting with foaling and handling of foals/yearlings
- Support during farrier and vet visits
- General upkeep of the property
- Sales preparation when applicable (brushing, handling, lunging, walking yearlings)
- You will be working with broodmares, foals, and yearlings, so confidence and calm handling are essential.
Requirements:
- Solid experience with foals and young horses
- Ability to work both in a team and independently
- Good communication skills in English + intermediate French for work-related subjects (vet, farrier etc.)
- Physical fitness and a proactive attitude
- A valid driver’s license is a plus
Contract: 35 hours/week, 6 days/week Compensation: Paid position + housing and meals
