You are a horse enthusiast, you love to work with mares and foals, you have experience in working with horses? Are you looking for an interesting, varied job in a young, international team? Are you reliable and able to work independently?

At present, as many as 6.000 horses are the pride of the Lewitz stud, and 800 foals are born each year.
We have a veterinary clinic based in Lewitz specializing primarily in equine breeding and treatment.
The position we are offering provides a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of vet nursing, and we expect applicants to come with competent horse/foal training skills as well as being well presented, punctual and reliable.
This full-time appointment involving responding to calls from outlying farms and assisting with all aspects of professional breeding.
Your tasks:
- Feeding and taking care of the horses from birth on
- support the vets with initial care after the birth
- Stable work (tidiness and cleanliness)
- Leading mares to the gynaecological examination or insemination
- Observation of behaviour and state of health of our mares
You will frequently be on "foal watch"- looking after mares and their foals, helping with neonatal foal and mare care, and thus given a first-rate opportunity for hands-on learning.
Come and visit us for a three days work trial. You get a room, breakfast and lunch for free. If your skills meet our requirements we can definitely offer you immediate employment, so remember to bring along everything you might need for a longer stay.

The experience gained in working on this yard, in my 22 months is equivalent of at least 8 years worth of experience (in my opinion!). You will be privileged to have seen, to ride, and to take care of young future sport horses. Many, many will go under your care and some will touch your hearts and linger in your memories. Honestly, it is all hard work but it is so worth it when you see young horse develop under your care. The trainers are straight forward, very communicative and the fellow grooms and riders all come from all parts of the world. In addition to this, the trainers will impart their invaluable knowledge, the dentist who come on a regular basis (and you will get to know them as they will see to 'your' horses) as well as the vets so in this sense, you learn something new on a daily basis. No two horses are the same, and yet every one of hem have left an hoof mark on my soul. Thank you for all the experiences!
