The position offered is a dressage groom and rider in a stud in Spain under direction of a GP trainer and rider, last director of dressage in the spanish university.
The position will require working as part of a small team but applicants must be able to work independently without supervision.
The first month is the practice month and no salary will be given the first month. In the first month your accommodation , food and training will be paid for fully. After the practice month then a full salary is given.
Details-
The working week is Monday - Saturday lunch time. Then on a rota week one weekend you need to feed the horses both weekend days but this happens on a rota weekends.
Hours- 8am - 10am - Mucking out 10am- 10.30am - Breakfast 10.30am- 2.00pm - Working horses 2.00pm - 4.00pm - Lunch 4.00pm - finish working horses and put to bed.
Riding - Riders must have a good balance in all 3 paces, be able to ride leg yield, shoulder in, haunches in and have knowledge of half pass work.
Riders will be given 7/8 horses to work under a schedule designed by the director. Training will be ongoing but riders must be capable to work unsupervised. The horses are being prepared for competition, client training or sale.
Riders must be happy and competent to ride young horses.
Riders must be able to lunge.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
All applicants need to have an EU citizenship and talk with the director Jose Luis Valdes directly after submitting a CV outlining experience with a video of themself riding.
Grooming- Fast and efficient mucking out, competent handling of young horses and stallions, good bandaging technique, ability to learn the Spanish plait, knowledge of basic vet care, be able to prepare horses quickly and to a high standard, good attention to detail at all times.
