We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Equine Retirement & D.I.Y. Yard Manager, to oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth running of the yard and demonstrate exceptional horse care.
The key duties will be to oversee the daily running of the Equine Retirement and D.I.Y. Livery Yard, ensuring high standards of care and efficiency, oversee stable maintenance, with a particular focus on horse welfare. You will be required to develop and manage individual care plans for retired horses, including feeding, turnout, farrier, and veterinary schedules. By providing a well-organized and professional environment for D.I.Y. liveries and ensuring facilities are maintained, with all clients receiving appropriate support
You will be required to supervise, train, and manage yard staff and volunteers by fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Ensuring the yard meets all welfare and health and safety regulations, including an understanding of safeguarding and first aid, stable maintenance and pasture management.
You will act as the main point of contact for D.I.Y. liveries and retirement owners, maintaining excellent communication and customer service. Including managing bookings, livery agreements, invoices, and stock control for feed, bedding, and supplies. Manage and update daily records and future planning care plans. Working alongside the Estate Manager to implement a marketing strategy for developing client base, progress the business and develop web site, along with the development of B.H.S. approval.
Requirements
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of yard management experience, ideally in a retirement or livery setting. Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of equine health, nutrition, and welfare, with the ability to manage individual care needs.
Leadership Abilities: Proven experience in managing a team and maintaining high standards of horse care and yard organization.
Customer Service: Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with liveries and horse owners.
Organized & Proactive: Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently, with good administrative and problem-solving skills.
Full UK Driving Licence would be an advantage and ability to operate farm machinery is desirable
