MUST be reliable and kind to horses. Driver’s license required.

Successful candidate will take pride in work and show a high standard of care in all aspects of yard management. We have a range of horses so prior experience required and someone confident to handle horses that are fit.

Essentials for the role include:

• All normal yard duties (mucking out, sweeping, cleaning drinkers, haynets etc)
• Turning in/out
• Taking horses on/off walker
• Making feeds and managing feed stock quantities
• Liasing with farriers, vets etc as well as interacting with clients
• Clipping and hot clothing
• Trimming manes/bridlepaths etc and keeping horses presentable
• Tacking up/washing off
• Cleaning and checking tack
• Preparation of horses/equipment/and loading horsebox/trailer for shows
• Grooming at shows. Someone who can read a test a bonus!
• Poo picking/check waters
• Lunging capabilities (not just spinning round at 100mph!)
• Confident to hack a range of horses

Not essential but desirable;

• Added bonus for someone with young horse experience/breakers (or who wants to learn)
• Quiet confident rider with ability to school horses nicely on the flat. Warm up/cool down or for more advanced riders there is the option to have some horses to ride in the arena each day and compete.
• Jumping experience is a bonus but not necessary.

Perks include possibility of bringing own horse (further discussion required) which can be ridden/cared for during work hours. Training included and option to come to shows with own horse where there is space.

Teamwork based role! I’m not a precious rider so happy to get stuck in and help on the yard when needed. Successful candidate will understand clients pay me to train their horses so I can’t always be on the yard and I need a mature person to oversee running of yard. Good sense of humour required as well as someone who understands the importance of putting the horses needs at the forefront of the day.
