We are looking for someone to fit in as part of the family and help look after 3 horses, a pony, 3 dogs, plus a couple of elderly sheep and do some light housework. As a busy working family, we need a reliable "relaxed" part-time live-in groom/au pair/dog sitter to look after our small home yard. Ideal for someone in their gap year/saving for Uni or not sure what to do next and need some time to think. There would be time to take on a part time role elsewhere or to do an additional role working from home if desired. We have had au pair/grooms for the last 16 years who recommend us and can provide references and are still part of the extended family. Role to include overseeing the daily care of 1 competition horse, 1 rising 4 year old a broodmare and a miniature pony, including mucking out, turn out/bring in, grooming, tack cleaning, attending appointments with farrier/vets etc and ideally capable of driving a 3.5t lorry. Help looking after our dogs is also important. One of our dogs is paralyzed in his hind legs and needs constant monitoring so another pair of hands would help take the pressure off a bit. We have a cleaner twice a week so the housework required is quite light. Must be organised and able to take sole charge occasionally including infrequent weekend/holiday cover. Driving license and car essential. 5 days a week Mon - Fri (aprox 25 per week between the hours of 8 - 6) All food and accommodation provided. Fuel would be provided for own car for work related travel. Character References required. Non-smoker. Sorry but we cannot accommodate any horses, children, dogs or other animals. Candidates must have experience of handling competition horses even if this has been your own. Salary is minimum wage plus accommodation & food as above.
