Millfield School is looking for passionate and dedicated Grooms to become valuable members of our team from September 2024. If you have a love for horses and a desire to excel in stable management, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Our impressive Equestrian Centre boasts spacious indoor and outdoor arenas, accommodating up to 40 horses. With seven school horses and numerous student livery horses, you will care for your allocated horses and support the rest of the team in the routine work of the yard. Working in a collaborative and supportive environment, you will enjoy being part of a small team dedicated to welfare of the horses in our care and the well-being and education of our teenage students.

At Millfield School, we prioritise your professional development. As a Groom, you will immerse yourself in all aspects of stable management and actively participate in our groom development programme. We are proud to be a BHS approved centre, offering staff training to support qualifications within the BHS Excellence Pathway. By joining our team, you will gain invaluable experience and be encouraged to enhance your skills further.

We have the following contract options available:

52 weeks – An all-year-round position working an average of 48 hours per week. During term time you will work between the hours of 6.45am to 6.30pm, 5 days per week and during non-term time you will work between the hours of 7.30am to 5.30pm, 5 days per week, with a 1.5 hour lunch break. The salary is £29,402.88 per annum (FTE)

Term time only – A total of 32.6 working weeks with hours of work the same as the above. The salary will be a pro-rata of the full time equivalent, which equates to approximately £21,111.53 per annum.

Livery Private Riding School Training

Equestrian Centre for Independent boarding school situated in Somerset and caters to children ages 2 - 18. Facilities include stabling for up to 100 horses over 2 sites, combining accommodation in American style barns and traditional stables, indoor arena 44m x 64m, outdoor arena 50m x 70m, 2 sets of BS standard show jumps and portable X-C jumps, cross-country schooling fences, off road canter track and access to gallops, all-weather horse walker and round pen and resident yard staff.

Consists of 120 acres in which there is a hacking trail, a canter track and two all-weather arenas and a BE cross country course by Adrian Ditcham, designer of the 2012 Olympics cross country course.
