As a Part-Time Stud Groom, you will be responsible for the daily care and maintenance of our breeding stock, including stallions, mares, foals and youngstock. Additional hours will be available during the year as well as local part-time work in the area.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Feeding, watering and general care
- Cleaning and maintaining stables, yards, and equipment
- Grooming and tacking up
- Assisting with excercise and training routines, including backing and breaking
- Monitoring the health and wellbeing, reporting any issues to the management
- Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and safety in all areas
- Assisting with breeding operations, including handling mares, stallions and foals
- Providing support during foaling seasons, including monitoring and assisting with foaling.
- Maintaining detailed records of breeding activities and horse health
- Handling stallions for breeding, ensuring safe and controlled environments
Requirements
- Previous experience working with horses is essential
- Ability to work independently as well as a part of a small team of 3 members + on occasions.
- Specific experience as a stud groom or in a breeding environment , including handling stallions is highly desirable
- Knowledge of horse care and stable management
- Strong attention to detail, a proactive and can-do attitude
- Reliable and punctual
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves manual labour
- Flexible with working hours, including weekends and holidays

The cottage is 50 yards from the main property with a separate entrance and has 2 double bedrooms with a kitchen and large lounge/dinner with a wood burning stove. This is a shared property with another member of the team. There is a small private garden with BBQ and log store.
