Zuma’s Rescue Ranch
The Assistant Barn Manager will work closely with the Barn Manager to ensure the smooth daily operations of Zuma’s Rescue Ranch. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and communication skills to oversee staff, volunteers, and events.
Key Responsibilities
Employee and Volunteer Management Develop and implement a formal employees and volunteers training program to ensure all are adequately trained. Create and maintain staff schedules to cover all shifts and events as needed. Maintain an inventory of feed and supplements, ensuring daily monitoring by staff. Volunteer Coordination Work closely with the Barn Manager to ensure optimal volunteer coverage (no more or less than three volunteers per shift). Maintain a daily list of tasks, repairs, and projects for volunteers and ensure tasks are completed correctly. Ensure volunteers are properly trained, appreciated, and encouraged in their roles.
Event & Group Coordination Maintain project lists for large corporate groups and coordinate with the Program Director to secure funding for these projects. Regularly update facility maintenance lists to ensure that group projects are properly assigned and completed. Qualifications & Skills
Experience in barn management or equine care (prior leadership experience preferred). Strong organizational and time management skills to oversee multiple operations efficiently. Excellent communication skills to work with staff, volunteers, and event participants. Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Passion for horse rescue and rehabilitation, with knowledge of equine care. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
