Immediate vacancy for experienced head groom/rider/barn manager to join our team in Rexford, NY. This position is full time and based at our home stable.

We are searching for a head groom that can also ride well. The job includes assisting with and supervising all basic yard duties and overseeing the other employees. Must be able to work well with others, delegate tasks and understand time management. Duties will also include keeping tack room and feed room inventory stocked, ordering supplies, grain, hay and shavings as needed. We are looking for someone very organized with a professional attitude, as the position involves communicating with feed stores, vets and farriers.

This position will include riding and lunging horses. Strong experience flatting horses is required. The position will include flatting horses in training and ponying thoroughbreds to and from training track. There is also a possibility to assist with galloping young thoroughbreds for the right person. Must be very comfortable exercising high level performance horses.

Applicants should be highly motivated, reliable, organized, hard-working and be detail oriented. Horsemanship and positive attitude are top priorities. Ability to drive horse trailer would be a plus. Ideal applicant takes pride in their work and can turn out to a high standard. We are looking for someone trustworthy who will learn our program and help implement said program in our absence.

Requirements

Immediate vacancy for experienced horsemen to join a world-class team based in upstate NY. Applicants should be highly motivated, reliable, hard-working and be very detail oriented. Experience and horsemanship are top priorities.

Daily duties will focus on assisting with:

  •   Grooming
    
  •   Clipping
    
  •   Platting
    
  •   Tacking up
    
  •   Cool down
    
  •   Bandaging
    
  •   Cleaning tack
    
  •   Therapy and care
    

This position will also involve management skills, and applicant will be responsible for:

  •         Ordering grain
    
  •         Ordering hay and shavings
    
  •         Ordering supplies from tack shop
    
  •         Ensuring barn stays stocked with various supplies
    
  •        Overseeing other staff to ensure all tasks are being completed to a high standard in a reasonable amount of time
    
  •         Working with high performance horses (racehorses and GP showjumpers) Must be comfortable handling young horses and stallions.
    

Successful program with high standards of horse care seeking a responsible and motivated horseman that is detail oriented and good at following directions. Top care for the horses and cleanliness in the barn are priorities.
