Job opening: Experienced Freelance Trainer!

We are a full service facility focused on classical dressage and holistic horse care, in which the physical & mental welfare of each horse is paramount. BridleWood is located on 60 idyllic acres in NY State, 2.5 hours from Boston and NYC. We offer a full size dust-free indoor arena, a full size outdoor arena, a 60’ round pen, heated bathroom and tack room, plus access to woodland trails. We seek a classical trainer who is especially gifted in teaching children as well as adult beginners, not only advanced students. Show experience is a plus. We believe in a natural approach to horsekeeping, our horses are all maintained barefoot, on a forage based whole-foods diet. They all live in groups on track systems with shelters. Over the past two years, developing these tracks, we have witnessed our horses become healthier and happier. An understanding of the benefits of track systems, is encouraged. Your approach to riding and training must be in partnership with each horse, without relying on bribery such as clicker training, or ‘short-cut’ mechanics such as side reins, martingales, harsh bits and spurs. The understanding of equine bio-mechanics along with the practical knowledge of in-hand work is a must. We are seeking someone skilled in methods that echo the teachings of Reiner Klimke, Monolo Mendez, or Mark Rashid, and of course many others too...someone who approaches their equine work with a positive can-do attitude, imbued with compassion, creativity and lightness! A Work agreement will be discussed with the right person. An on-farm housing rental is possible in our newly renovated trainer's suite.
