Looking for a professional young horse groom to join the training department at Coves Darden. You’ll work mostly with young PRE horses (including colts) just starting their career under saddle. advanced horsemanship skills are required as good judgment is important so the youngsters learn what they need to know and don’t learn what they shouldn’t. You’ll be grooming and tacking horses for dressage trainers, bring horses in or out to the paddocks. The mission is keeping trainers in the saddle as much as possible, keep horses looking good , and the workspace clean and organized.
The length of the work days are reasonable. We start at 7am sharp and if you are on the ball all tasks should be done by 4:00pm. The work day is typically 5 days per week but you must be available when clients are scheduled on the weekend.
You may have horses to hand walk or lunge. You need to know how to give IM and IV shots and administer oral meds as prescribed, put on standing wraps or applying topical medications as needed. This position includes all things grooming! No mucking, no landscaping, no riding unless sufficiently skilled to contribute to the program
The work environment is productive and positive here and that is fundamental to us.
Pay is $800 weekly via direct deposit. Employee housing is a semi furnished 3 bedroom brick house on a spacious fenced lot . You pay your electric and internet bill. Trash service is provided by the farm. If you have a horse we can discuss that option. Without a pet security deposit there is a strict no indoor pet policy.
