The University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm is looking to hire a 1.0 FTE Barn Manager to join their team. This is a 40 hour/week position that includes at least one weekend day.
The right candidate has three-to-four years of equine management experience, stallion and young horse handling preferred.
The barn manager is responsible for the daily care and management of the horses, onboarding and leading new team members in this routine. The barn manager will maintain a clean and orderly barn environment, including inventories of supplies and feedstuffs.
Under the direction of the management team, the barn manager will carry out the activities of the equine breeding and neonatal program, and helps prepare horses for daily training. The barn manager maintains records, supports routine maintenance and the execution of promotional events on and off farm.
We are looking for a dependable person with a positive, team-oriented attitude, excellent attention to detail and communication skills, with a focus on quality and care. Must be able to operate tractors and be eligible to pass university vehicle screening and training to drive a loaded trailer. The successful candidate will be required to pass a physical upon offer of the position.

Work in one of the most beautiful locations in all of Vermont, the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm.
This National Historic Landmark is a university teaching facility and home to a historically significant herd of Morgan horses, the Vermont State Animal. As a tourism attraction, each year we welcome thousands of visitors from all over the world between May and October.
As primarily a breeding and teaching farm, we foal out six to ten mares each spring and stand several stallions. The herd census is about thirty five to forty horses, and are at various levels of training.
Students from the University of Vermont come to the Morgan Horse Farm for lectures and experience, and the farm has four apprentices who live on site.
