Working Student Position - Horse Care & Stable Assistance at Our Agriturismo in Tuscany
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a passionate and hardworking student to join our team and learn all aspects of horse care at our classical riding center in the heart of Tuscany, between Florence and Siena. If you love working with horses and would like to gain valuable hands-on experience, we'd love to hear from you!
Role & Responsibilities:
- Horse Care: Assist with daily stable duties such as mucking out, feeding, and grooming the horses.
- Stable Management: Help turn horses in and out of the fields, prepare and clean tack, and assist in the preparation of horses for lessons.
- Guest Support: Assist our guests with any preparation needed for their lessons, ensuring they have a great experience.
- Horse Training: Depending on your level, there may be opportunities to assist with horse training, schooling, and lunging.
What We Offer:
- Lessons: Receive at least 3 riding lessons per week as part of the exchange. Training will be provided by our experienced team of three instructors. This includes Pietro De Marchi, who travels internationally to train riders, as well as Natalie and Rita, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in jumping competitions. We specialise in adapting the principles of classical dressage, making them applicable to various riding styles.
- Accommodation: A private room in our guest house, located close to the stables.
- Meals: Three meals per day, prepared by local Tuscan cooks during the season.
- Work Environment: Be part of a small, friendly, and professional team in a beautiful, international setting. You will have the chance to interact with riders from all over the world and develop your skills in classical riding.

- Eligibility: Applicants must be eligible to work in the EU.
- Commitment: Up to 3 months.
- Personality: A positive, hardworking attitude with good organization skills and a willingness to learn. Common sense and a love for horses are essential.
- No Pressure to Ride: While riding lessons are included, we respect that not all students may want to ride. The focus is on learning about horse care and stable management.
Location: Our agriturismo is located between Florence and Siena, with easy access to the city of Florence (50 minutes by bus). The accommodation is located within the guest house, close to the stables.

Il Paretaio are an excellent employer, here you are able to work with the best instructors and amazing horses, the stables are great and you also have a lovely house to live in and the food is incredible. Work may be long and tiring, but everyone here looks after you so well and makes you a part of the Il Paretaio family. I would come back again and again.

I worked at Il Paretaio for about 6 months and I LOVED it!! Cristina and Gianni are amazing, I received fantastic intsruction from them and Jenny, and really improved my riding. You must have a good work ethic here and be able to work as a team, but if you do the rewards are fantastic. Great horses, staff, guests, food (mmmm!) and scenery, and of course the swimming pool! Since working here I have mantained a great relationship with Il Paretaio and have even come back to work the odd week here and there, they have always been good to me and I will never forget the amazing time I had working here. I truly reccommend to people who know how to work hard, who appreciate good horses and good instruction and who can enjoy the adventure!

Last year I stayed the winter period at Il Paretaio and I had a very nice time! It was always a dream of me to work in the middle of Tuscany with horses and to be in a beautiful landcape as theirs. I had a very lovely stay with them and learned a lot. If I had the time I would go back in a heartbeat. If you are searching for a good learning experience then this is your opportunity. I was ridding everyday and getting lessons many times a week from the best teachers. And let's not forget about the amazing dinners we had everyday!!!! Hospitality was super and the people are all very nice and friendly. I would use the term Work hard play Hard and enjoy every moment.

We are a classical riding centre in the heart of Tuscany (between Florence and Siena). We cater for all levels in dressage riding and country riding. We have 30 horses of varyng breeds. We are a small, friendly but very proffessional yard, working with many returning guests year after year.
